Sender email address

With a custom sender email address, the emails Riseact sends to supporters (thank-you messages, receipts, notifications) leave from the organization's address, for example donations@yourorganization.org, instead of no-reply@riseact.org.

This helps in two ways:

  1. supporters immediately recognize who is writing, and emails end up in spam less often;
  2. when a supporter replies, the reply reaches the organization.

What you need

To send on behalf of the organization's domain, Riseact must be authorized by whoever manages the domain. This is done by adding two CNAME records to the domain's DNS, once, from the control panel of the provider where the domain is registered (for example Aruba, Register.it, OVH, GoDaddy, Cloudflare).

If the organization does not manage the domain directly, forward this page to whoever does: the technician or agency that looks after the website.

Setup

1. Enter the address in Riseact

Go to Settings > Organization, enter the address in the Sender Email field and save.

2. Open the instructions

The DNS configuration section appears below the field. Click Show instructions: the Verify your sender domain window opens with the two records to create, each with its Name and Value, ready to copy with the icon next to it.

The records look like this (the exact values are the ones shown in Riseact):

TypeNameValue
CNAMEs1097990._domainkeydkim.smtp2go.net
CNAMEem1097990return.smtp2go.net

3. Create the two records in the domain's DNS

In the provider's control panel, open the domain's DNS management and add two CNAME records, copying name and value from Riseact.

Every panel works slightly differently:

  • The name. Many panels append the domain to the name by themselves. In that case enter only the first part, for example em1097990, not em1097990.yourorganization.org.
  • The trailing dot. If the panel asks for full names ending with a dot, add the dot at the end of the value too: return.smtp2go.net.

There is no need to change or delete other records.

4. Verify

Go back to Riseact and click Recheck configuration. Each record shows In place or Missing. When both are in place, the section shows Verified: from then on emails leave from the organization's address.

DNS changes can take from a few minutes to a few hours to become visible. If a record is still missing after a few hours, check its name (step 3) and that its type is CNAME.

Without configuration

Emails are sent anyway, from no-reply@riseact.org with the organization's name as sender. No email is lost. As soon as the records are in place, Riseact switches to the organization's address by itself.

Addresses configured before October 2026

Riseact has changed the service it uses to send emails. Records created in the past (TXT records, with names like mandrill._domainkey) are no longer enough: the two CNAME records described above are needed.

Until 30 November 2026 emails keep leaving from the organization's address as before. After that date, if the new records are missing, they leave from no-reply@riseact.org until the records are added. The DNS configuration section shows a notice with the date.

Once the new records are in place, the old TXT records can be removed, but it is not required.
